The Essentials!
We are leaving for Kefalonia in April so it's organisation time now...... We need to determine the best route to get to Kefalonia and most importantly what to take with us (and what to leave behind), bearing in mind we only have a camper van in which to do this.
Well - the buzz words at the moment are "vacuum storage bags". Everything that can be, is being put into these bags and the air vacuumed out. Towels, bedding, clothes, pillows etc. One of these days I will be looking for Mark, to find I've accidentally (?) vacuum packed him.
I have visions of going into the Eurotunnel at Folkestone, and coming out at Calais, the inside of the camper van looking like one big marshmallow because the valves have failed in the vacuum storage bags and everything has blown up to normal size!
Even though Kefalonia has hot summers, they have cool winters with temperatures down to 2 degrees with thunderstorms too, so we need to take clothes suitable for all seasons, which means as well as the usual summer clothes such as shorts, T-shirts and flip flops we will need coats, walking boots, and wellies. How on earth are we going to fit everything in? These are the necessities as well. There will also be Mark's fishing rods, camera equipment, computer and TV, masks and snorkels, painting equipment and not forgetting the most important item - our telescope.
OMG!!! - Is this possible?
Good job the camper van is a Tardis.
